As a child I loved the smell of freshly baked waffles. And still do now. :-) Baking together on such a wet autumn or winter day and then all joining the table for a delicious home made waffle, it has something cozy for me.

This time I made waffles with a twist, because the matcha powder turns the waffles completely green. An original recipe that will certainly surprise the children or guests!

Matcha waffles with cranberries and maple syrup

Ingredients for about 10 waffles

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 300 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 50 grams of sugar (you can also replace this with honey.)
  • 400 ml milk (optionally vegetable)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 grams oil (coconut oil or an oil of your choice)
  • Fruit for the topping. Cranberries are used in this recipe.
  • Maple Syrup

Recipe

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well together. Make sure it becomes a smooth mass.

  2. Let the waffle iron heat up.

  3. Pour enough mixture into the mold and wait until it gets a light brown color. But be careful not to burn the waffles. Tip: first brush the waffle iron with some oil or butter before pouring in the batter, otherwise there is a chance that the waffles will stick.

  4. Let them cool down and then add some fruit and possibly some maple syrup.

These waffles always work, and taste really delicious. Give it a try and be sure to share your creations on social media with the hashtag #joyofmatcha .
