On my website and blog I occasionally talk about antioxidants. These are powerful substances that protect your body against free radicals. Many vegetables, fruits and healthy foods contain antioxidants, but matcha and blueberries are by far the most well-known superfoods that are packed with antioxidants.
Combine these two toppers in one dish, and then you know that you have a high dose of antioxidants. This time I made a smoothie based on blueberries, banana, oatmeal and matcha. Not only rich in antioxidants, but it is also packed with other healthy substances.
First thing first: chew your smoothie.
Smoothies are delicious thirst quenchers and a smart way to get your daily portion of fruits and vegetables. But it is important that you chew your smoothie. I can hear you thinking: how do I do that, and why is it so important?
Chewing is the first stage of digestion. On the one hand, it ensures that the food is mixed with saliva, which helps in the digestion process.
On the other hand, chewing ensures that you get a feeling of satiety faster. If you chew well and long enough, you give a signal to your brain that food is on its way. If you chew well, you will also snack less in between.
To make chewing easier, I added oatmeal to this recipe, which also ensures that you are satiated for a long time.

Ingredients for the smoothie
- 2 teaspoons of matcha powder
- 1 banana
- 50 grams of blueberries
- 2 tablespoons of oatmeal
- 2 dl almond milk
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Preparation
- Cut the banana into pieces.
- Add everything to the mixer (keep 1 spoonful of oatmeal)
- Pour into a glass.
- Mix in another spoonful of oatmeal.
And serve! You can also serve it in a bowl and add some fresh fruit. This ensures that you also chew longer on your smoothie.
