Nothing beats the smell and taste of freshly baked bread. Many people have therefore started baking again in recent months so that they can enjoy a fresh slice of bread.

But how do you get started, and what ingredients do you need for such a loaf of bread?

You can actually experiment with that yourself, I once felt like a 'special', and therefore baked a walnut bread with matcha.

Healthy, fantastically tasty and not difficult! :-)

What do you need for this walnut bread with matcha?

  • 500 grams of flour of your choice (think spelled flour, rye, wheat…) I used spelt
  • 11 grams of yeast
  • Pinch of salt
  • 230 ml warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 teaspoons of matcha
  • 150 grams of walnuts
  • 1 egg yolk

How are you?

  • Mix the flour with the yeast, a pinch of salt, the warm milk, 2 tablespoons of honey and the matcha powder .
  • Knead the dough for about 20 minutes.
  • Then let the dough rise for 45 minutes.
  • Add the chopped walnuts and knead the dough for another 2 minutes.
  • Then let rise for another 40 minutes in a greased baking tin.
  • Brush the top with an egg yolk (this ensures a nice brown color)
  • Bake the bread for about 30 minutes at 220 degrees.

Et voilà: a delicious, freshly baked bread. Crunchy on the outside, but wonderfully soft on the inside. Pure enjoyment! :-)

Ik heb het brood gebakken . De hoeveelheid gist is wel droog gist, geen verse gist. Met de vooropgestelde hoeveelheden had ik geen mooi homogeen deeg.
Ben gewoon van brood te bakken en heb de vloeistof wat aangepast. Toch gelukt en smaakt lekker.
