The most delicious time of the year? That must be Easter! The shelves in the supermarkets are filled with thousands of Easter eggs weeks in advance. Nevertheless, we consciously chose to make our Easter eggs ourselves. And no, you really don't have to be a chocolatier for that. ;-) Making your own Easter eggs with a matcha filling is child's play with this recipe.

Ingredients (for 6 people)

  • Chocolate molds. On Bol.com you will find them in all sizes and shapes.
  • 160 grams milk chocolate or dark chocolate (2 tablets)
  • 10 egg yolks
  • 150 grams of sugar or Zùsto (if you prefer to make it healthier)
  • 120 grams of gin
  • 1 vanilla pod, scraped out
  • 2 teaspoons of matcha powder
  • A spoonful of honey

Preparation

For the eggs:

Melt the chocolate and pour into moulds. Let the molds drain immediately so that you get hollow eggs. Would you prefer Easter eggs without filling? Then you fill the molds completely. Then leave them in the fridge for a few hours.

For the filling:

Beat the egg yolks with the vanilla and sugar (or zùsto) until white. Beat gently while mixing in the gin. Put the whole thing on a soft fire and let it cook for a few minutes while whisking continuously and then let it cool down.

The finish:

When the filling is ready, take the eggs out of the fridge (after a few hours). You take the eggs out of the molds. You fill one half with some filling and stick a second half with honey on the edge. Then they can go back in the fridge for a while.

Do you see how simple this is? :-) It's also a fun activity to do with the kids. You can still decorate the Easter eggs with nice decoration. This is how they are sweet again during the Easter holidays!

Happy Easter!
