It is clear that you can combine matcha with endless things in the kitchen. You can add it to smoothies, pastries, yogurt, even sauces…
But this time I wanted to try something new and got to work in the kitchen for a delicious homemade matcha peanut butter. Yes, you read that right, matcha is really delicious on a sandwich and the combination with peanut butter is surprisingly delicious!
I make my peanut butter completely myself because it's actually very easy. In 2 minutes you can make a large portion that you can eat for several days. Homemade is also much healthier than the ready-made peanut butter you find in the supermarket, because it is often full of hidden sugars. Enough reasons to make my own peanut butter. :-)
This is probably the simplest dish I've ever made in my kitchen, but oh so tasty and healthy! Nuts are packed with vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids that support a healthy lifestyle.
(For a jar of 500 grams)
- 500 grams of unsalted peanuts
(For this recipe I use peanuts but you can also use almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts if you want to make other nut butters.)
- A dash of oil to make it a bit more creamy (e.g. almond oil, walnut oil)
- 1 tablespoon of matcha powder
- Optional: a dash of honey
- For the topping: fruit of your choice (blueberries or banana)
The preparation is simple: add the peanuts and the oil to a blender and mix the whole. Do you like sweet peanut butter? Then you can also add some honey before mixing.
At first the mixture will be a bit grainy, but after a while oil will be released from the nuts and it will become a smooth nut butter. Stop mixing when all the nuts are well ground. Then you mix the matcha powder through the whole.
All you have to do now is divide the peanut butter over jars and then they can go in the fridge.
In the morning, take the peanut butter out of the fridge, spread it on toast and add some fruit if you like. Blueberries and banana go well with the taste of peanut butter. Enjoy your breakfast!
