If you want to give your body a good start in the morning, it is best to choose healthy food that provides a real energy boost. Need inspiration? I list 3 healthy breakfast recipes for you.

1. Oatmeal with vegetable milk

Oatmeal is a classic breakfast, but for a good reason: it is very high in fiber. They are not only good for your digestion, they also ensure that you feel full. If you get hungry quickly in the morning, then this is a breakfast for you. The saturated feeling also ensures that you will not quickly reach for unhealthy food or snacks.

Oatmeal breakfast

You can make a tasty oatmeal quickly and easily with 2 ingredients. This is what you need:

  • 40 grams of oatmeal
  • 100 ml vegetable milk (think coconut milk or soy milk).

You bring the milk to a boil and slowly add the oatmeal. Meanwhile, keep stirring the mixture. You lower the heat a bit and keep stirring until it boils again. Put a lid on the pot and let it simmer for another 15 minutes. Just be sure to stir occasionally so that nothing sticks to the bottom.

No time in the morning? Then this is the ideal breakfast, you can make the oatmeal the night before and put it in the fridge. Afterwards you can finish with fruit (such as blueberries, apples, kiwi) and some spices such as cinnamon.

This is the basic recipe for a delicious oatmeal. Can it be something more special? Then these overnight oats with coconut and matcha are for you. By the way, the matcha powder makes it even more healthy. ;-)

2. Egg in avocado

Tips for choosing a healthy breakfast

1. Avoid fast sugars at the beginning of the day

Fast sugars cause your blood sugar to rise very quickly, so they provide a quick energy boost, but that energy is short-lived. Think of white bread or cornflakes, which are packed with fast sugars.

Does that mean you should never eat a sandwich? Of course not, everything is allowed in moderation. If you choose bread, then it is best to choose brown bread. White bread is less healthy because it contains little fiber.

2. Choose a portion of fruit or vegetables

It may sound a bit strange to many, but a breakfast with vegetables is the way to start your day in a healthy way. Vegetables are not only full of moisture, they also contain a large dose of vitamins and minerals.

Do you think it's a bit crazy to eat a whole plate of vegetables in the morning? Then try an omelet with some vegetables, brown toast with avocado or radishes and light Philadelphia or a green smoothie with spinach. This way you will have your portion of vegetables in no time!

3. Fruit juice is not that healthy after all

Do you like to have your vitamins at breakfast? Fruit juice contains almost as much sugar as a glass of cola... they are natural sugars, but sugar is still sugar. That is why it is best not to start the day with a glass of orange juice.

This is an option: eat an orange, this gives you fiber and that fiber keeps your blood sugar under control. If you drink orange juice from a bottle you don't get any fiber, so it's best to prefer a piece of fruit instead of pure juice.
